離開冰島的南岸景點後，開車經過刺激的939道路之後，沿著蜿蜒的公路向東行駛，開始出現一些山谷和湖泊的風景，東部有一個城鎮Egilsstaðir，可以停下腳步晃一晃。
這裡不像雷克雅維克那樣熱鬧，也沒有黃金圈那樣擁擠，開車幾乎沒有遇到什麼車，可以沿途慢慢欣賞冰島的風景，很讓人放鬆。Egilsstaðir 算是東部地區的交通樞紐，也是自駕環島時的重要休息站點。鎮上有加油站、有超市，Bonus 和 Netto 都找得到，有幾間不錯的餐廳和咖啡店，還有一座迷你機場。

Egilsstaðir這裡雖然不像黃金圈，有很著名的景點，但附近其實有很多小點可以去看看，如果你的住宿是選擇Lagarfljót 湖附近的民宿的話，更可以安排在這附近的點。這次我們住宿的地方不在這裡，所以只有選擇幾個地方停留。
我們有去塞濟斯菲厄澤 (Seyðisfjörður)的藍教堂，附近滿好拍照的，還有去吃小鎮上的一家炸魚薯條Kjot & fiskur Fresh Fish ，中間還有經過Gufufoss 瀑布，也是電影《白日夢冒險王》取景點之一，如果有時間的話，其實滿想在這裡多待一些時間。
下面還有一些推薦景點可以去：
- Lagarfljót 湖：這裡有民宿可以入住，窗景就是整個湖泊的景色
- Studlagil玄武岩峽谷：距離市中心比較遠，大概一小時
- Vök Baths 溫泉湖：是冰島唯一「湖上漂浮溫泉池」
- Hallormsstaðaskógur 森林：冰島最大的森林公園
